April 12, 2013 -- Bar Harbor, Maine—Kristen Rozansky, a Pennsylvania-based development professional with 17 years of fundraising experience for academic and medical institutions, will join The Jackson Laboratory as vice president for development and communications.
Kristen RozanskyRozansky was associate vice president for development for Penn State University in University Park, Pa., and chief development officer for the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. In her five years at Penn State, Rozansky’s accomplishments included securing $191 million in pledges and new gifts as part of a University-wide fundraising campaign, and raising more than $65 million in a campaign for a new, freestanding children’s hospital.
Starting her development career in 1996 at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, Rozansky rose to director of donor relations. In 2002 she moved to the university’s Perelman School of Medicine, becoming senior director of alumni development and alumni relations.
“Kristen is a talented leader in development and has been very successful at building Penn State’s philanthropic programs,” says Jackson Laboratory President and CEO Edison Liu, M.D. “We’re absolutely delighted she will join our leadership team as she guides us in securing the necessary funds to drive impactful research at a global scale at JAX.”
At The Jackson Laboratory, Rozansky will oversee the Laboratory’s development, foundation relations and communications offices, a staff of 21.

A native of Orwigsburg, Pa., Rozansky earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Susquehanna University in Harrisburg, Pa., and did graduate work in English at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution based in Bar Harbor, Maine, with a facility in Sacramento, Calif., and a new genomic medicine institute in Farmington, Conn. It employs a total staff of more than 1,450. Its mission is to discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health.
