Kimmel Appointed as Academy Chair of ACRP

BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY (January 29, 2009) - Clinsys Clinical Research, Inc.®, a therapeutically focused global contract research organization, announced the appointment of Kathryn Kimmel, CCRC, CCRA, a Senior Clinical Research Associate (CRA), as chair of the Academy Board of Trustees for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). The Academy oversees ACRP certification functions related to members who are CRAs, clinical research coordinators (CRCs) and nonphysician clinical trial investigators (CTIs).

“I am very honored to be appointed to chair the Academy,” said Kimmel. “My goals are to uphold the high standards that ACRP has set for its examinations, and to maintain the exam products as the gold standard for certification in the clinical research enterprise.”

As the administrative entity for ACRP certification programs, the Academy Board of Trustees supervises exam committees, reviews test results and manages vendors that are used to help produce exams. The Board of Trustees is responsible for both US and international exams.

“We are extremely proud of Kathryn’s accomplishments, and this appointment is testament to her leadership ability and industry commitment,” said Jeff Page, Executive Director, Business Excellence and Field Operations, at Clinsys. “Her continued involvement with ACRP reflects her dedication to ensuring clinical research quality through certification, a standard that Clinsys holds in high regard.”

Kimmel began her career in clinical research as a CRC in 1994. She was a founding member of ACRP’s former Inland Northwest Chapter and served as president for three years. Kimmel has maintained her standing as a Certified CRC since 1998 and as a Certified CRA since 2003. She also previously served on ACRP’s CRC Examination Committee for eight years, including six years as chair, and has been a coeditor of Home Study tests for ACRP’s peer-reviewed journal, The Monitor, since 2004.
