Independence Blue Cross Announces Promotions And New Hire

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Independence Blue Cross (IBC) announces the following:

CYD L. GASKINS has been promoted to Senior Director, Professional Network Operations

In her new position, Gaskins oversees physician credentialing support services, model credentialing rosters as well as claims support for several large health systems. This includes initial audit of the credentialing application for practitioners who are joining the IBC network for the first time, and identifying all practitioners in a group practice and verifying each practitioner’s credentialing status. Gaskins also directs a unit that responds to inquiries from large area health systems, and helps the health systems understand IBC’s medical and claims payment policies. In her 13 years with IBC, Gaskins has most recently been the Director for Field Services in Contracting and Provider Networks. She holds an MBA with an emphasis on Finance and a BS in Accounting with Honors from LaSalle University. Gaskins is a member of L.E.A.D (Leader’s Edge Accelerated Development) sponsored by The Leader’s Edge, an organization that offers leadership development training and coaching and networking opportunities to executive women. She resides in Philadelphia, PA.

MICHAEL D. RAE has been promoted to Senior Director, Medicare Marketing and New Business Initiative

In his new position, Rae has expanded responsibilities for the sales of IBC’s senior and Medicare plans: Keystone 65, Personal Choice 65, and Security 65. He also directs the marketing and new business initiatives of the products. Rae has 23 years experience in the insurance industry. Before joining IBC in 1993, he worked for a Nationwide agency and New York Life in a variety of positions. Most recently, he was the Director of Medicare Sales at IBC.

Active in his professional field, Rae gives numerous presentations to industry workgroups on new product developments. He is involved in America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP)'s Medicare Supplement Workgroup as well as the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Senior Workgroup. His professional honors include being awarded the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Medicare Marketing Contact of the Year in 1998. Rae received his BA in Economics from Duke University. He is a resident of Horsham, PA.

AMANDO JAYME has been named Director, Health Resource Center

In his new position, Jayme orchestrates the front-end pre-certification functions services such as ancillary and Durable Medical Equipment (DME), for all IBC products and interacts with facilities, physicians, DME and home health providers who initiate the pre-certification process. He also oversees the Healthy Lifestyles program, a wellness program that includes member reimbursement for annual fitness center fees, weight management program fees, and smoking cessation programs. The Member Appeals call center is also under Jayme’s leadership.

Jayme received his BA in history at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently an MA candidate at the University of Chicago where he is the recipient of the University of Chicago Social Sciences Scholarship. Jayme is the co-founder of the Bordentown Community Action Group, an unregistered non- profit organization dedicated to area environmental challenges. Jayme is a resident of Bordentown, NJ.

KAREN A. JACKSON-WHITE, MD has joined as Associate Medical Director

A board-certified endocrinologist, Jackson-White is responsible for daily pre-certification reviews, concurrent reviews, and case management cases. She also participates in peer-to-peer discussions with network physicians to clarify utilization decisions and to enhance communications with network physicians in the IBC provider network. She also participates in provider appeals for hospitals and does endocrine reviews, including pre-certification of growth hormone requests. Jackson-White was previously a physician at the Endocrine Associates of South Jersey.

Jackson-White received her BA in Biology at Cheyney University and her medical degree at the University of North Dakota. She completed her Internal Medical residency and Endocrine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. Jackson-White currently resides in Mullica Hill, NJ.
