WASHINGTON, DC -- Two biomedical HIV prevention interventions – treatment as prevention (TasP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) – will dominate discussions at the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) in Washington, DC.
At this press conference, the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC) will release a Consensus Statement outlining challenges and opportunities for TasP and PrEP implementation. The statement was developed by an international Advisory Committee that analyzed and synthesized TasP and PrEP data presented and discussed at an IAPAC-hosted “Controlling the HIV Epidemic with Antiretrovirals” evidence summit held June 11-12, 2012, in London. The press conference will feature two prominent researchers in the fields of TasP and PreP who will review the Consensus Statement’s key recommendations.
