Fresenius Deploys Applix TM1 In Multiple Business Units

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The TM1 platform from Applix, Inc. , a leading provider of Business Performance Management (BPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, was chosen by the healthcare corporation Fresenius, a global health care corporation with products and services for dialysis, hospitals and medical care of patients at home as the foundation for its reporting and analytical applications. The decision to use TM1 at Fresenius was based on the platform’s performance and flexibility.

With its connection to the healthcare company’s SAP system, the TM1 solution will be used for reporting and analytical applications, consolidating the data for a single version of the truth. Currently TM1 functions as the front end for the SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) and will later also work as the interface to the SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) at Fresenius. The development of TM1’s multidimensional OLAP structure simplifies and standardizes the workflow and at the same time provides greater flexibility with the configuration of TM1 solutions for individual analysis, reporting and planning purposes. Fresenius selected the OLAP solution after the employees from all participating departments in different countries extensively tested the prototype developed by Applix.

Michael Herth, manager of the Competence Center FI/CO at Fresenius Netcare, the IT-provider for the corporation and project leader responsible for the introduction of TM1, said, “It was our goal to find a performance- oriented and flexible BPM/BI-solution that could be customized according to the various requirements of the individual countries as well as the different branches and business units. TM1 for our users means a significant improvement in their analysis tools, and, in addition to optimizing the information platform for strategic decisions, ultimately a reduction in cost and administrative effort for the corporation.”

Hans-Georg Schieb, Managing Director of Applix in Central Europe, explained, “More and more companies are turning to TM1 to enable them to base decisions on the most accurate, up-to-date information available -- with a solution that has a widespread reputation for rapid implementations. As the independent analyst Nigel Pendse concludes in the current OLAP Survey 4, TM1 has the OLAP solution with the fastest implementation times.(1) The ability to rapidly deploy TM1 represents a great advantage for a worldwide roll-out that will enable many employees at Fresenius to rapidly begin their analytics and reporting efforts.”

The first application at Fresenius will go live in the spring of this year. Afterward, applications will be incrementally added as more employees begin working with TM1. Fresenius Netcare, the IT-Provider of the corporation, will manage the implementation.
