Foley Hoag Welcomes Susie Ahn, Health Policy Specialist,To Government Strategies Group

(Boston, MA, November 17, 2008) – Bolstering a team of experienced life sciences specialists in the Government Strategies practice, law firm Foley Hoag LLP announced the arrival of Susie Ahn, former Director of Federal Government Relations for the Washington, DC-based Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).

Ms. Ahn will focus her practice on advising the firm’s life science clients on developing successful regulatory and legislative strategies to improve health care and reduce the uncertainty and cost of innovation.

Most recently, as Director of Federal Government Relations for BIO, Ms. Ahn managed the group’s advocacy in the House of Representatives, creating and leading the lobbying efforts among various members of Congress and committees. She advised BIO member companies and Congressional staff on FDA reform, follow-on biologics legislation, patent reform legislation, reauthorization of the Prescription Drug User Fee program, children’s healthcare (SCHIP) reform, Medicare Parts B and D, as well as agriculture, energy and small business issues.

Ms. Ahn has considerable experience on Capitol Hill in relation to life sciences and health care policy issues. As a Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Mike Honda, she was responsible for developing and managing healthcare policy initiatives, especially as they related to the Medicare Modernization Act, pharmaceutical importation, medical liability reform, and health insurance reform. Ms. Ahn served in a similar capacity for Congressman Xavier Becerra and worked on the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee docket.

She received her B.A. from the University of California at Irvine and is expected to receive her J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2009.
