CARLSBAD, Calif., July 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DCN Diagnostics (formerly Diagnostic Consulting Network) and Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation (AKFC) announce a new partnership based around AKFC’s patented high performance cellulose nanobead product, NanoAct. NanoActTM represents a major step forward in visual labels for use in lateral flow and other rapid assays. The product line consists of a range of high intensity colored beads which can be multiplexed, generate higher sensitivity, lower CV’s and improved stability over many existing visual labels such as colloidal gold. This enables the application of lateral flow assays in demanding field assays for emerging infectious disease, consumer applications, bio-threat detection and biomarker testing.

DCN and AKFC will be showcasing NanoActTM at the AACC conference in Houston, Texas, on 28 July- 1 August.

DCN, a leading supplier of assay development, training and consulting services to lateral flow assay developers and manufacturers, will be AKFC’s distribution partner in North America and will be their preferred provider of OEM services to NanoActTM users worldwide, except Japan. “This new product line is a great addition to DCN’s existing portfolio of high performance reagents and materials for lateral flow test producers,” said DCN’s President, Brendan O’Farrell.

O’Farrell added, “DCN is happy to be aligned with a company as established and professional as AKFC, and to have the opportunity to assist in the adoption of this new technology. We believe that NanoActTM will allow for the development of higher performing lateral flow tests. While unfamiliar to many in the diagnostics world, AKFC, who manufacture and sell cellulose fiber products worldwide in many markets, is a company having matured and advanced cellulose technology for more than 80 years. Coupled with DCN’s assay development, training and customer support capabilities, we believe that this product line will allow for product performance that can have significant impact in many markets.”
