CardioMeter’s Novel Non-Invasive Device For Physiological Assessment Of Significant Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Presented At Innovations In Cardiovascular Interventions (ICI) Meeting In Tel Aviv

TEL AVIV, Israel, December 19 /PRNewswire/ -- CardioMeter Ltd. today announced the presentation of an initial clinical trial performed at the Rabin Medical Center using its novel non-invasive device for physiological assessment of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) at the Innovations in Cardiovascular Interventions (ICI) Meeting held at the Hilton Tel Aviv this week.

The trial was conducted by Professor Ran Kornowski, Head of Interventional Cardiology Department, at the Rabin Medical Center, Petah Tikva, and included 97 consecutive pts referred for coronary angiography. Patients with recent Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) and previous coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) were excluded from the trial.

Prior to angiography, patients performed a short 90 second non-invasive test to establish RMR. RMR (Respiratory Modulation Response) was obtained from digital Pulse Wave Amplitude (PWA) analysis during deep breathing using the novel CardioMeter(TM) device.

Significant correlation (P value<0.001) was found between low RMR and significant cardiovascular disease as found at angiography. Also, RMR improved significantly following coronary intervention and stayed unchanged in diagnostic procedures.

"The CardioMeter device may potentially be used in the future as a simple bedside or office based test to detect significant CAD and to follow patients with CAD post coronary catheterization " said Ronen Arbel, President and CEO of CardioMeter Ltd. "We shall need further research to validate these results, which are extremely encouraging".
