Braun Medical Inc. will sponsor a presentation on peripheral IV catheter stabilization and a CE Symposium on asepsis techniques for ultrasound-guided PIV catheter insertion at this year’s 30th Association for Vascular Access (AVA) Annual Scientific Meeting at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Sept.16-19.
“Realizing the importance of PIV catheter stabilization: Exploring New Concepts” featuring Gregory Schears, MD, will be the Platinum Showcase on Sept.17 from 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. in the Yucatan room (2-3). This session, sponsored by B. Braun, will provide an overview of current knowledge about catheter stabilization and emerging new concepts. In addition to a literature review, knowledge gaps and remaining clinical problems will be discussed.
For the CE Symposium -- “The Great Debate: Insertional Asepsis for Ultrasound Guided PIV Catheters” -- a distinguished panel of speakers will discuss how best to insert peripheral catheters with ultrasound: sterile or aseptic no touch. Gregory Schears, MD, Mark Rupp, MD; Nancy Moureau, RN, BSN, CRNI, CPUI, VA-BC; and Rob Dawson, DNP, MSA, APRN, ACNP-BC, CRNI, VA-BC will review relevant literature and practice principles on Sept.17 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., in the Fiesta 6 room.
