LORTON, Va., July 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bode Technology Group, Inc. (Bode), a leading provider of forensic DNA products and services, announced it has reached significant milestones in sales of its two patented DNA collection systems. The company has sold over 5,000,000 Buccal DNA Collector and SecurSwab evidence collection products. Bode’s innovative DNA collection systems are designed to improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of the collection and processing of evidence and biological samples from individuals and crime scenes.
“As a forensic DNA crime laboratory, we know that the quality and integrity of DNA evidence can make-or-break solving a case. Reliable collection devices not only improve the chances of obtaining a DNA profile, but also enable efficiency in the laboratory,” said Mike Cariola, CEO and President of Bode. “In today’s financial environment, streamlined lab operations are critical to the success of a forensic DNA crime lab.”
Bode’s DNA collection systems have been adopted worldwide for use in DNA databasing programs, most recently in Southeast Asia and for casework programs at Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the New York Police Department. These innovative and proprietary collection devices are shown to improve DNA collection. Recently, the National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) published a study showing the SecurSwab DUO-V had the best DNA recovery of all swabs evaluated. It collected the most DNA and has features that prevent contamination and reduces possible degradation.
A company White Paper evaluating the efficiency of the Bode Buccal DNA Collector proves that use of the direct collection system reduces cost, processing time, re-run and re-collection rates, saving money for crime laboratories.
“Bode continues to seek improvement in DNA technologies, from collection devices through processing methods in the laboratory. When developing collection products, we create a system that includes collection, chain-of-custody control, sample protection and sample storage. These elements help law enforcement officers and DNA analysts obtain results that can be used to solve crimes,” said Andrew Singer, Sr. Product Manager at Bode. “We do all of this with the highest standards used in the forensic industry.”
Bode’s collection products are manufactured in an FDA registered facility under cGMP guidelines and clean room conditions. All DNA collection products are certified to be free of human DNA and DNase.
