FULLERTON, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Beckman Coulter, Inc. announced today that Arnold A. Pinkston has been named senior vice president, general counsel effective November 15, 2005, and secretary, effective December 1, 2005 pending Board approval. Pinkston succeeds William H. May who is retiring after 30 years of service as general counsel and an officer of the company.

In this role, Pinkston will be responsible for all aspects of legal affairs related to Beckman Coulter and its products on a worldwide basis, and will serve as the corporate secretary.
Pinkston started his career in 1984 with the Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe law firm in San Francisco. In 1990, Pinkston left to join McKesson Corporation. While at McKesson, he was appointed general counsel of the PCS Health Systems business, which was eventually sold to Eli Lilly Corporation. Pinkston has been with Eli Lilly since 1999 and most recently served as deputy general counsel with responsibilities for the legal affairs of Lilly USA, Lilly’s global pharmaceutical products component and its global marketing and sales organization.

Pinkston received a bachelor’s degree in geophysics from Yale College and a juris doctor degree from Yale Law School. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of St. Vincent Health and the Board of Directors of the Southwest Autism Research Center.
