MILWAUKEE, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aldrich Chemical Company, a member of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation , a $1.2 billion Life Science and High Technology Company, announced today it has received ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001:2000 quality system certification at all three of its Wisconsin facilities. ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards adopted by 145 countries across the globe. This distinction validates Sigma-Aldrich’s long tradition of providing customers with high-quality manufactured products and service.
“Today, our historical concept of service, same-day shipment of our products to meet catalog specification, is not enough,” said Aldrich President, Dr. Joe Porwoll. “Our customers expect that we also provide that service using controlled processes. ISO certification acknowledges that we are committed to and utilize the concepts of quality in the execution of our business functions.”
This certification includes all manufacturing, quality control, and related activities at Sigma-Aldrich’s Sheboygan, Wisconsin location, the site of most organic chemical, custom manufacturing for the Company. All warehousing and distribution operations conducted at Sigma-Aldrich’s Teutonia Distribution Center in Milwaukee are also included in the registration. This facility will ship over three million units of Sigma-Aldrich products to customers worldwide this year.
Finally, the scope of the registration also extends to Purchasing, Customer and Technical Service, the St. Paul Avenue Packaging location, and certain quality control and logistics support activities at the Company’s Milwaukee facilities.
Including the newly certified Sheboygan site, Sigma-Aldrich now has 20 locations with quality systems that adhere to ISO 9000 requirements. In addition, Sigma-Aldrich has six manufacturing locations registered with the FDA that operate under cGMP.
