ATLANTA, Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. John Lipman, founder and medical director of Atlanta Fibroid Center of Atlanta Interventional Institute, welcomes his new colleague, Dr. Rochelle Wolfe, as the company expands beyond its headquarters in Smyrna, GA. Dr. Wolfe is a board-certified radiologist with fellowship training and extensive interventional radiology experience.

“We are extraordinarily pleased to welcome Dr. Wolfe as an integral part of our growing medical team,” said Dr. Lipman, an interventional radiologist and internationally-recognized expert in the uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) procedure.

Dr. Wolfe Brings Expertise in UFE as well as Venous Disease
After completing medical school at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Wolfe completed her radiology residency at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, RI. She pursued an interventional radiology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, where she was fortunate to work with a pioneer in UFE, well-known interventional radiologist, Dr. Ann C. Roberts.

Dr. Wolfe was one of the first physicians in Minnesota to perform the UFE procedure through the wrist and has comprehensive experience treating patients with venous disease.

UFE Provides a Non-Invasive Option for the Treatment of Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Fibroid Embolization is an outpatient non-surgical option for treating symptomatic uterine fibroids. Fibroids are the most common pelvic tumor encountered by women, and are found in up to 80% of African-American women. Following the UFE procedure, patients recuperate within the comfort of their own homes on the same day of the procedure. Typically, a woman requires less than a week to fully recover from UFE. More invasive surgical procedures, such as hysterectomy and myomectomy, often require two months or more for complete recovery.

While the company’s headquarters in Smyrna will still house its state-of-the-art UFE procedure suite, its two new offices will be conveniently located for patient consultations in mid-town Atlanta and Lithonia.

Founded in 2005, Atlanta Fibroid Center of Atlanta Interventional Institute is a global leader in UFE with over 8,000 UFE procedures completed by its physicians. Dr. Wolfe and Dr. Lipman are available for appointments by calling 770-953-2600, or requesting an appointment on the company website, https://ATLii.com.
