TOPEX, Radiology Oncology Systems, Inc. (ROS) and Acceletronics, Inc. Sign Distribution Agreement for Skin Cancer Treatment System

DANBURY, Conn., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- TOPEX, Inc. entered into a product distribution agreement with Radiology Oncology Systems, Inc. (ROS) and Acceletronics, Inc., for sales and service of its superficial radiotherapy system, the SRT 100, designed for the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer.

John Brenna, TOPEX President, stated "We are pleased with the Radiology Oncology Systems and Acceletronics business model and strong market position providing oncology product sales and ongoing customer service support." The agreement provides for exclusive territory distribution in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. The territory outside the United States includes Mexico, Caribbean Countries, Central and South America.

Over 2.5M worldwide skin cancer cases are diagnosed annually at an increasing rate. Increased exposure to the sun without protection and a decreasing natural ozone layer are cited as the chief causes of this increase -- a global problem!

The SRT 100 system provides an alternative to surgery for treating basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, especially for primary lesions requiring difficult or extensive surgery with sensitive structures in the head and neck regions -- the fold in the nose, eyelids, lips, corner of the mouth and the lining of the ear that would otherwise lead to a poor cosmetic outcome. This treatment does not require the use of anesthetics and eliminates the need for skin grafting when surgery could result in a less than desirable outcome. This procedure also benefits those patients who have a fear of surgery or a needle phobia, for those patients who have contraindications for reconstructive surgery that are taking anti-coagulants and blood thinners and for those that cannot tolerate general anesthesia. This is a pain free procedure with excellent cosmetic results and a well documented high cure rate. The insurance industry including Medicare part B widely accepts this procedure for reimbursement.

John Vano, President of Radiology Oncology Systems, Inc. confirmed, "ROS is very pleased to add the TOPEX SRT 100 to its line of radiation therapy products in selected markets. TOPEX has demonstrated its products are effective, reliable, and cost-efficient. We believe the TOPEX line will provide our customers an ability to provide superior patient care, cost-effectively, and we are excited to have the opportunity to introduce the product line to our customers and distributors in the U.S., Central and South America."

Mike Summers, President and C.O.O. of Acceletronics, Inc., says "With the new TOPEX superficial unit, Acceletronics is able to provide its customers with a value-added, state of the art superficial treatment unit. Our international team of field service engineers will allow us to install, service, and support TOPEX customers worldwide. We believe that TOPEX is a natural addition to our product and service offerings and welcome the opportunity to be of further service to the radiation oncology community."
