The Quest For The Future Of Medicine Continues: Orig3n Extracts DNA And Tests Nearly 450 Exponential Medicine Attendees In Less Than 48 Hours

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In a first-time experiment this week, ORIG3N, a leader in regenerative medicine technology and genetics, collected DNA from more than 450 conference attendees to profile for unique genes, and unveiled the results to the conference attendees within 48 hours.

Cheek swabs were taken on-site at the Exponential Medicine Conference, which gathers world-class faculty, innovators and organizations from across the biomedical and technology spectrum to explore and leverage the convergence of fast-moving technologies in the reinvention and future of health and medicine. At the conference, ORIG3N gave all registrants custom DNA kits.

The company sent the swabs back to their Boston lab overnight, where the team extracted DNA and ran analyses on all samples utilizing proprietary custom automation, turning around the results by Monday. Results were delivered directly to participants' iPhones via the LIFEPROFILE app and presented onstage at the event.

"It has been a gratifying few days for our teams on the ground in San Diego and Boston. We wanted to prove that genetic profiling doesn't have to be some cumbersome process and that the accessibility of these insightful results can be made in mere hours," said Robin Y. Smith, CEO of ORIG3N.

The Exponential Medicine kits profiled for six genes, uniquely chosen to be of interest to the conference attendees. The genes tested for impulsive risk behavior, longevity, language learning ability, caffeine metabolism, skin aging and folate levels.

ORIG3N's LIFEPROFILE suite of genetic tests identifies how genes impact specific areas of one's body, providing insights into consumers' genetic makeup. For more information about ORIG3N's LIFEPROFILE suite of products, or to order a kit, please visit: www.orig3n.com/lifeprofile.
