Alcon Labs has laid off about 200 employees who handle general and administrative functions at the eye-care products firm, saying the job losses are part of cost-cutting measures being done companywide. “To ensure long-term business success, Alcon is taking a careful look at how we spend our resources so that we can reinvest in new product development and launches around the world,” the company said in a statement released Thursday. The employees were informed about the job reductions on Wednesday.
