SFL's Managing Director Receives Open University Business School's Alumni Award for Outstanding Contribution to an Organization 2012

July 17, 2012 -- SFL is delighted to announce that Shayesteh Fürst-Ladani, Managing Director of the company, has received the Open University Business School’s Alumni Award Outstanding Contribution to an Organisation 2012.

The Open University Business School Alumni Network nominated and elected individuals that demonstrated best the application of learnings from their Open University MBA training and achievement of outstanding results. This year’s awards were presented at a lunch ceremony held at The Open University campus at Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, UK on Friday 13 July.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Rebecca Taylor, Dean of The Open University Business and Law Schools, commented that OU students are different: "Being 'open' does not mean easy; we offer a rigorous education and qualifications that are recognised across the globe. It means commitment and sheer hard graft on the part of our students. Our students and alumni are special: determined, resilient and focused on success."

“I’m very honoured to receive this award,” commented Shayesteh. “I always wanted to build up an innovative company and my time at the Open University was invaluable in providing me with the necessary knowledge for doing so and encouraging me to become an entrepreneur.”

Shayesteh was nominated in recognition of her business achievements following the completion of her MBA at the Open University. Since its founding in 2009, SFL has grown rapidly and expanded its services in regulatory affairs, public affairs, legal services and medical communications for international clients in the health care sector. She leads the team at SFL and provides global strategic support for the development and approval of healthcare products. Shayesteh has a comprehensive knowledge base and experience in formulating global regulatory strategies for drugs, orphan drugs, drug & device combination products, borderline products, medical devices, in vitro diagnostics and advanced therapy medicinal products.

Shayesteh is Chair of Combination Products Topic Group at EuropaBio and Medical Device Working Group at EUCOPE. She has been member of the Program Committee of DIA EuroMeeting for 2011, 2012 and 2013 leading the Theme Drugs, Devices, in vitro Diagnostics and their Combinations. Shayesteh is also Chair of SIAC (Special Interest Area Community) for Devices & Diagnostics at DIA.

Shayesteh held several management positions within the pharma, biotech and medical device sectors before founding SFL. She was Head of Global Regulatory Affairs for Kuros Biosurgery, Global Regulatory Leader at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, and Head of Regulatory Affairs for Development Products at Baxter Bioscience, BioSurgery Unit. She received her MSc in Microbiology from the University of Vienna, Austria, and an MBA from the Open University Business School, Milton Keynes, UK.
