The annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology is prime time for biotechnology stocks. Most of the 300 drugs in the late stages of development are aimed at various forms of cancer, according to Needham & Co. analyst Mark Monane. Tiny biotechs flock to the cancer field, because cancer drugs are faster to develop than other pharmaceuticals--and because there are a mere 9,000 oncologists.
