Applied Precision, Inc. Announces the 25th Installation of Its DeltaVision OMX Super-Resolution Microscope at McGill University

ISSAQUAH, Wash., Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Precision is proud to announce the 25th installation of its DeltaVision OMX three-dimensional super-resolution microscopy system at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

The OMX is a super-resolution microscope utilizing proven three-dimensional structured illumination (3D SIM) technology providing an eight-fold improvement in volume resolution and outstanding widefield imaging capabilities. The OMX product family offers affordable solutions for super-resolution imaging with new designs enabling faster data collection in a more compact footprint.

“Structured-illumination microscopy will become the new standard in biomedical imaging,” said Dr. Gary Brouhard, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at McGill University. “Applied Precision’s OMX will be the premier instrument, both now and in the future.”

Super-resolution imaging is especially important to cell biologists and microbiologists seeking to study objects and events that lie beyond the limits of conventional microscopy methods.

“The OMX will be a major addition to our imaging facility,” says Dr. Guillaume Lesage, CIAN Core Facility Manager in the Department of Biology at McGill University. “People are really eager to use it and we received training requests before the system was installed!”

Dr. Elke Kuster-Schock, CIAN Core Facility Microscopy Associate, said, “Having just finished the initial training on the OMX, I was impressed by how straightforward the workflows are. We had wanted a super-resolution system that is not so much do-it-yourself, but ready to use in a multi-user facility and the OMX seems to fit the bill.”

“We are thrilled to have McGill University as our 25th install site for our OMX system,” says Applied Precision President and CEO Joseph Victor. “The OMX continues to be a tremendous system for us and we have been busy creating new technologies for the OMX to provide researchers with even more options to advance their research.”
