AnaSpec, Inc. Introduces New Z-Fish(TM) Anti-Caspase Antibodies

San Jose, CA – July 16, 2009 Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is becoming a widely used experimental model for the study of vertebrate development and embryology, toxicology and genomics. In regards to the field of apoptosis, the zebrafish genome has been found to encode a majority of the components that mediate apoptosis in mammals including humans.1-3 Furthermore, apoptosis-regulating genes, such as the Caspases (cysteine aspartic acid proteases), have been cloned from zebrafish.4

AnaSpec is pleased to provide research tools to keep pace with the growing needs of researchers using zebrafish as an experimental model. AnaSpec’s Z-Fish™ anti-caspase list includes antibodies for Caspase 2, with immunizing peptides derived from the N-terminus (NT) or an internal sequence (IN); Caspase 3a, 3b antibodies targeting specifically the p12 or p17 domains; Caspase 8a, with the immunizing peptide derived from an internal caspase 8a sequence; Caspase 9 for p10 and p37 domains; and Caspase-a (caspy) and Caspase-b (caspy-2). These polyclonal antibodies, raised in rabbits, have been verified in ELISA and western blots using zebrafish lysates (see western blots below). Antibodies are supplied in 150 ul sizes and are enough for 15 mini gels.

The list of Z-Fish™ antibodies includes targets used in apoptosis and autophagy, cell cycle control, cytoskeleton, glucose and energy metabolism, signal transduction, and immunity research.
