(NYSE:ALO - News), a global specialty pharmaceutical company, announced second quarter 2007 diluted earnings per share ("EPS") of $0.30, versus EPS from continuing operations of $0.32 in the second quarter of 2006. Revenue in the second quarter of 2007 increased 12.7% versus the second quarter of 2006 driven by gains in each of the company's three businesses. Operating income in the second quarter of 2007 was $17.0 million, a decrease of $6.3 million compared to last year's second quarter, reflecting $11.7 million of increased research and development ("R&D") spending, primarily related to the company's abuse-deterrent pain product platform in its Pharmaceuticals business.
