The long-standing relationship between the two organizations is now enhanced with Agilent’s listing on AMDeC F.I.R.S.T. (Facilities Instrumentation Resources Services & Technologies), the first-ever comprehensive, real-time online registry and database of biomedical research technology and resources. This will facilitate AMDeC member access to substantial savings through product discounts across the spectrum of Agilent’s genomics product lines, including microarray slides, bioreagents, hybridization consumables, and bioanalyzers.
“Creating ties like this between industry and academia benefits all parties. For our member institutions, this agreement will realize substantial savings, which is especially crucial in this time of constrained budgets,” said Maria Mitchell, Ph.D., President of AMDeC. “For Agilent, this agreement provides greater access to and collaboration with the academic biomedical research community.”
“Recognizing the critical role of genomics in advancing scientific research, we are especially pleased to be taking a lead role in encouraging scientific exchange among researchers in this field, in addition to offering value-based solutions to AMDeC member institutions on products in this domain,” said Robert Schueren, Agilent vice president and general manager, Genomics and Life Science Reagents.
In addition to genomics, Agilent is a leading provider of chromatography, mass spectrometry, microscopy, tailored support solutions, and automation solutions. Earlier this year, Agilent placed a mass spectrometer at Mount Sinai School of Medicine for use and access by all of AMDeC’s member institutions through AMDeC’s Technology Access Program (TAP). Through a facilitated RFP process, TAP leads to the placement of high technology resources or reagents for use in scientific studies, providing product exposure, real-time validation, and assessment for technology acquisition.
