(NASDAQ: ABMD), a leading provider of breakthrough heart support technologies, today announced the inclusion of hemodynamic support with Impella in the 2011 American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF)/American Heart Association (AHA)/ Society for Coronary Angiography Interventions (SCAI) for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Released today by the Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC), the guidelines were revised to include general hemodynamic support with devices such as Impella, expanding from specific recommendations that formerly included only the intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) for PCI procedures.
