2004 TEPR Finalists Announced - SynaMed Sweeps Nominations

KEW GARDENS, N.Y., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- SynaMed, the only web-based solution to be nominated as finalists in the 2004 TEPR Awards, has received the most nominations of any company, placing as finalists in four out of eight categories. SynaMed has been nominated for Best Electronic Health Record (EHR) for Solo and Small Practices, Best Practice Management System (PMS), Best E-Prescription Management System, and Best Medical Records Document Imaging/Management Systems.

TEPR (Towards an Electronic Patient Record, http://www.tepr.com/) is an organization that promotes the adoption of electronic health records (EHR) in the medical community. The TEPR Awards gives EMR and practice management software companies the opportunity to compete with each other in several categories based on program functionality, ease of use, and the software's value towards improving public health and patient care. The winners will be announced on May 19 at the TEPR Conference in Ft. Lauderdale.

SynaMed is a turnkey electronic medical records (EMR), practice management (PMS), E-prescribing, Scheduling, Task and Work Flow Management solution with lab connectivity, imaging center, drawing module, and documentation management. As an ASP (application service provider), it decreases hardware, installation, and networking costs, while still providing all, if not more, of the functionalities found in a more costly client-server program. Small to large practices across the country have chosen SynaMed based on the ease of implementation, ease of use, and superior functionality. SynaMed will have a booth showcasing their best of breed solutions at TEPR's Exhibition Hall.

Although electronic medical records have been around for over a decade, it is only recently that they have been receiving so much attention. As the federal government and Medicare begin to enforce the use of EMR's and also provide financial incentive for physicians to use them, we anticipate that the percentage of doctors using electronic medical records will increase significantly. Political leaders like Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Bush have also stated that they want a nationwide electronic medical system that would enable doctors to access and share health records, research, prescriptions and other information. Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry also has proposed nationwide adoption of EMR's to save $116.5 billion through improved disease management and patient care.

SynaMed is committed to facilitating the national and global transition towards and electronic patient and medical record to streamline operation costs and improve patient care.
