BALTIMORE, May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to evolving health care guidelines and the needs of its growing membership, XLHealth has reformed its Medical Advisory Board, bringing together nine leading authorities in both clinical program management and medical consulting, who will play a vital role in helping the company formulate new programs and interventions that best serve the needs of its more than 100,000 chronically ill and underserved Medicare members.

The Medical Advisory Board provides knowledge and oversight on clinical issues impacting the various programs under the XLHealth model of care, which supports the health and well being of its health plan members. The board is responsible for assuring that clinical care and recommendations instrumental to the design of the programs are consistent with clinical practice standards.

“The independent contributors appointed to our board provide XLHealth with a deep well of clinical and therapeutic expertise that will ensure our clinical programs are using the most recent research and guidelines to impact member outcomes,” said Henry Meilman, MD, chief medical officer of XLHealth. “Under the guidance of the Medical Advisory Board, we will identify and implement evidence-based improvements to our model of care that will affect our members’ well being in a positive and tangible way.”
