Xenical (orlistat) helped obese adolescents reduce weight, but this first major study of the drug for kids in this age group carried some unwelcome gastrointestinal baggage. A multi-center trial published in the June 15 issue of Journal of the American Medical Association suggested that Xenical, combined with diet, exercise, and behavioral therapy, could be a promising pharmacological treatment for youngsters struggling with excess weight.
