LAKE FOREST, Ill., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Takeda Global Research & Development Center, Inc., U.S. announced today that Azmi Nabulsi, M.D., M.P.H., was named president, Takeda Global Research & Development Center, Inc., U.S. Dr. Nabulsi will report to Nancy Joseph-Ridge, M.D., general manager, pharmaceutical development division, Takeda Pharmaceuticals International, Inc.

As president of Takeda Global Research & Development, Center, Inc., U.S., Dr. Nabulsi directs all aspects of Takeda’s U.S. drug development activities, including the identification of new product candidates, execution of clinical trial programs and support for innovative lifecycle management approaches for Takeda’s marketed products. Under Dr. Nabulsi’s leadership, Takeda’s U.S. development activities will continue to be a strong component in helping the organization to achieve the vision of having leading development capabilities within the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Nabulsi brings more than 20 years of experience to his new position. Having previously held the position of general manager for Takeda’s Strategic Development Department based in Osaka, Japan, Dr. Nabulsi was responsible for overseeing Takeda’s global portfolio strategies, development plans, and performance and productivity initiatives. Prior to that, he held roles within R&D operations for Takeda Global Research & Development Center, Inc., U.S.
Dr. Nabulsi joined Takeda in 2004, after being with Abbott for 10 years. At Abbott he held multiple global leadership positions in the development division with the most recent being the venture head of the oncology and transplant venture, and divisional vice president of Global Medical Affairs.
In addition to industry experience, Dr. Nabulsi has also held positions within academia, including an adjunct assistant professorship in the University of North Carolina’s Department of Epidemiology, and a research fellowship at the University of Minnesota’s Division of Epidemiology.
Dr. Nabulsi received his medical degree from Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and his master of public health degree from the University of Minnesota.
