TAMPA, Fla. – SynDaver, a global medical technology company focused on the creation and manufacturing of life-like synthetic human and animal simulators for medical and veterinary training, announced the promotion of Bill Wright to president of SynDaver on November 27.

Wright, who previously served as president of SynDaver Europe, will now oversee all of SynDaver’s domestic and international business.

Outgoing president, Dr. Christopher Sakezles, the founder of SynDaver, will remain on as CEO, but will shift his daily focus to SynDaverX, SynDaver’s skunkworks sister company, which conducts highly secretive research and development.

Since joining SynDaver in July of 2015 as the senior vice president of operations, Wright helped to more than double the production rate for their wide range of products and looks to continue the success in his new role.

“I am proud of the work that we have accomplished thus far at SynDaver and am very grateful for the opportunity to lead the company, which is at the forefront of medical technology,” said Wright. “Everything we do at SynDaver is in the name of progress, improving medicine and increasing understanding. I look forward to making sure those aspects continue to be incorporated into our business.”

Wright has nearly 30 years of experience working in the medical device, biotech and manufacturing industries both in the U.S. and abroad. Wright’s work experience before SynDaver includes serving in a senior leadership capacity for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute out of Chevy Chase, Maryland, as well as senior director of operations for Osiris Therapeutics, a regenerative medicine company that developed and commercialized the first FDA-approved stem cell drug.

“I have the utmost confidence in Bill and his ability to lead SynDaver well into the future, in addition to our 2020 IPO,” said Dr. Christopher Sakezles, founder of SynDaver.

SynDaver’s synthetic humans, animals and task trainers imitate the anatomy of their living counterparts in detail, including individual muscles, tendons, veins, arteries, nerves and organs, which are made from complex composites including water, fibers and salts that look, feel and behave like real tissue. These non-toxic, non-latex tissues have been validated for having comparable mechanical, physicochemical, thermal and dielectric properties of the relevant living tissue.

In use globally, SynDaver products are replacing live animals in medical device testing and evaluation, as well as in veterinary education and surgical simulation. They also are replacing human cadavers in anatomy instruction, surgical training and mortuary science, and are becoming the gold standard utilized by military medics and first responders in trauma scenarios, battlefield medical training and other life-support training situations.
