SAN DIEGO, April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Susan G. Komen San Diego will present the More Than Pink Individual Award to Mary Jean Anderson, owner/president of Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air at the More Than Pink Dinner on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
According to Shaina Gross, President and CEO of Susan G. Komen San Diego, "The More Than Pink Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the fight against breast cancer. Mary Jean Anderson has supported our local efforts for nearly 10 years as a major sponsor of the Race for the Cure and underwriter of our marketing efforts. We are very excited to thank her publicly for her support over the years."
"I'm named after my grandmother Mary and my aunt Jean, both of whom had breast cancer. So, Susan G. Komen's efforts here in San Diego are very near and dear to me and my family. I am humbled by this recognition and so very grateful to Komen," said Anderson.
The More Than Pink Dinner will bring together over 350 attendees demonstrating what it means to be More Than Pink. The program will showcase Marti Emerald, former City Councilwoman and breast cancer survivor, interviewing Lilian Vanvieldt-Gray, Komen San Diego's honorary breast cancer survivor and her physician, Dr. Siavash Jabbari, Radiation Oncology Director, Laurel Amtower Cancer Institute and Neuro-Oncology Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital. Guests will have the opportunity to walk through a survivor's journey, while getting the unique dual perspective of both patient and physician.
Boxer Capital will also be honored with the More Than Pink Corporate Award and attendees will include business leaders in San Diego's biotech and life science industries, executive level hospital administrators, healthcare and wellness professionals, medical professionals, local philanthropists, elected officials and people whose lives have been impacted by or are passionate about the fight against breast cancer.
