"This publication illustrates how RoboSep® has become the standard tool for automating cell isolation for HIV research. Since there is minimal human sample manipulation, exposure to infectious samples is significantly reduced. It is the only instrument on the market for cell isolation that employs single-use disposables, eliminating sample cross-contamination. These features make it ideal for HIV research," said Dr. Steve Woodside, Senior Scientist at STEMCELL Technologies. "More importantly, it describes how RoboSep® is advancing HIV vaccine development by providing highly purified cells for the assessment of T cell responses in HIV-infected individuals."
RoboSep® is the first instrument to offer true walk-away automation of column-free immunomagnetic cell isolation. All cell labeling and magnetic separation steps are performed with minimal sample handling, and up to four samples can be processed at one time. It is widely used in leading HIV research labs world-wide including the Laboratory of Immunoregulation at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) . It was designed by STEMCELL Technologies in Vancouver, which was supported by an Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) grant.
