Stem Cells Improve Heart Failure In Humans

June 8, 2005 -- The Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IRM), based in St. John, Barbados, announced on Monday that patients with advanced heart failure improved significantly after receiving stem cell therapy. The results, derived from a small clinical trial, showed that 30 days after receiving stem cells by injection into the heart, the patients improved an average of 41% in cardiac pumping efficiency and 72% in a standard test for walking distance.
