MINNEAPOLIS, June 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Starkey Hearing Technologies is proud to announce that it is the Official Hearing Partner of the 2015 National Senior Games presented by Humana. The Games will be held July 3-16 in various venues throughout Bloomington, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The National Senior Games torch will also be stopping at Starkey Hearing Technologies Eden Prairie headquarters on Wednesday, June 10 at 12 Noon.
The National Senior Games is an Olympic-style athletic event, featuring more than 10,000 competitors all over the age of 50. A biennial competition, The Games feature 19 medal-awarding sports and three demonstrative sports including baseball, disc golf and judo.

The National Senior Games Association was formed in 1985 in St. Louis. The NSGA held its first National Senior Games, formerly the National Senior Olympic Games, in 1987. Fourteen Games have been held since 1987 in Missouri, New York, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, California, Ohio and Virginia.
The 2015 National Senior Games kick off on Saturday, July 4 with the Flame Arrival Ceremony sponsored by AstraZeneca Diabetes and will include the symbolic torch and flame, a fireworks display, family activities and live music. Competitions will also begin Saturday, July 4 with the 10K run, archery, badminton, horseshoes, judo, softball and multiple swimming events. On Friday, July 10 at the Saint Paul Ballpark—CHS Field, the Celebration of Athletes sponsored by AstraZeneca Diabetes will recognize the achievements of athletes from across the U.S. who have come to Minnesota to compete in The Games.
