Music Festival for Brain Health Continues to Raise Money, Awareness
Co-hosts Shari and Garen Staglin, along with their children Brandon and Shannon, Congressman Mike Thompson, and the Board of Directors welcomed over 500 supporters, scientists, and friends to celebrate life and raise awareness of the causes and cures for physiological brain disorders.
The 24th annual scientific symposium, moderated by Eric Nestler, MD, PhD, Dean for Academic and Scientific Affairs at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, began with Tom Insel, MD, co-founder and President of Mindstrong Health and former Director of the National Institute of Mental Health, delivering the keynote address. Following Dr. Insel was guest speaker Beth Stevens, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard’s Program in Neuroscience.
The 2018 Rising Star Awards, sponsored by One Mind, Janssen Research & Development, LLC and Inscopix, were presented to Susanne Ahmari, MD, PhD, Paul Jenkins, PhD, and Erin Dunn, ScD, MPH.
A tasting of some of the world’s most acclaimed wines took place in the Staglin Family Vineyard winery caves, with hors d’oeuvres provided by Chef Victor Scargle, Culinary Director of The Boisset Collection.
Jennifer Hudson, OSCAR and two-time GRAMMY award winning artist, took the stage for an intimate concert among the Staglin Vineyard vines.
The post-concert VIP Dinner, supported in part by Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry, featured the cuisine of 3-Star Michelin Chef Christopher Kostow of The Restaurant at Meadowood and The Charter Oak in St. Helena, paired with Staglin Family Vineyard wines. Generosity was evident with an impromptu fund-a-need auction that raised over $610,000 to support the One Mind ASPIRe program.
