A soy ingredient used extensively in supplements could hold the power to inhibit the growth of tumour cells, says Chinese biotech firm American Oriental Bioengineering, announcing new findings for soybean protein peptides. The company’s research team reports that the growth of liver cancer cells inside mice was ‘successfully suppressed’ by soybean protein peptides without side effects. Their findings could lead to future market opportunities for the ingredient.
