PHILADELPHIA--(October 12, 2016) – From a graphene patch that gathers data from sweat, to a tool for personalized cancer radiotherapy, to a new approach to clinical trials that saves human and animal lives, the second class of companies in the University City Science Center’s Digital Health Accelerator (DHA) are inventing the future of healthcare. The milestones achieved by these six high-growth, revenue-positive startups will be celebrated at the second DHA Showcase, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Quorum at the University City Science Center.
The DHA companies – Grand Round Table, Graphwear Technologies, Invisalert Solutions, Oncora Medical, The One Health Company, and Tissue Analytics – were selected from a pool of 69 applicants via a multi-stage process which emphasized inclusion of women and minority entrepreneurs. DHA awardees received up to $50,000, professional mentorship, and introductions to a variety of key healthcare stakeholders including insurers, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and research institutions located in the Greater Philadelphia region. During the 12-month program, these early-stage healthcare companies also received membership to the Innovation Center @3401 (ic@3401) — a partnership between the Science Center and Drexel University, in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Safeguard Scientifics.
The DHA is supported in part by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
