A recent study conducted by the researchers of the Victoria University along with the University of Queensland has found that people who sit for long hours throughout the day suffer from symptoms of depression. Around 9,000 women aged 50 to 55 years participated in a survey for the study. These women were given mail surveys to respond to in 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2010. The experimenters kept a close watch on their physical activity levels as well as depressive symptoms of these mid-aged women.
