Salem Nonprofit, Design That Matters, Creates Device To Treat Jaundice In Developing World

SALEM — Design that Matters is living up to its name.

The Salem nonprofit, located in a Church Street storefront, designs medical devices that are making a difference, saving the lives of newborns in developing countries, where high-tech equipment and highly trained staff may be hard to come by. Its award-winning, “hard to use wrong” blue light phototherapy device, called Firefly, has so far treated more than 50,000 babies for jaundice.
