SAN CARLOS, Calif., July 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Prescient Surgical, innovator of advanced tools and technologies to fight and defend against the sources of surgical site infection (SSIs), today announced that it appointed Greg Bakan to its Board of Directors.

Bakan currently serves as COO of the Fogarty Institute of Innovation, the nonprofit organization whose mission is to propel innovative medical concepts from initiation to application, providing support and mentorship to promising researchers, developers, and scientists.

“Greg is experienced in market development for novel technologies,” said Jonathan Coe, president and CEO of Prescient Surgical. “His track record of building and scaling successful commercial organizations will be invaluable, as hospitals around the country continue to adopt CleanCision as part of their SSI control bundles.”

Bakan held leadership positions at Fortune 500 and startup companies including Ardian, Emphasys Medical, Nevro, and Fox Hollow Technologies. In aggregate, these startups have generated more than $2.5B in returns to their investors.

“The current healthcare environment favors easy to use technology that provides optimal patient care, while reducing healthcare costs. CleanCision has the potential to deliver in all these areas,” said Bakan. “Prescient is a graduate of the Fogarty Institute and that was another great draw. Serving on boards is another way we provide support to our graduates.”
