MedPageToday -- Antibiotic prophylaxis for critically ill patients reduced the risk of bacteremia from highly drug-resistant organisms, researchers reported. The preventive measure also reduced colonization by such pathogens, according to Anne Marie de Smet, MD, of University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands, and colleagues.
