OrthoAccel Technologies, Inc. Announces New Chief Innovation Officer and Vice President of Marketing

HOUSTON, May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kathleen Malaspina has been named Chief Innovation Officer and Vice President of Marketing for OrthoAccel Technologies. In this position, she will oversee marketing, clinical affairs, product innovations and international business development. Of particular focus will be efficient expansion of a global market for OrthoAccel’s AcceleDent system, an acceleration device to enhance orthodontics.

Ms. Malaspina brings over twenty years of international marketing experience, primarily in the consumer healthcare sector. She held international operational management positions with Motorola, Sanyo and Philips. While at Philips, she was instrumental in the development and growth of the renowned Sonicare brand. More recently, as principal of Malaspina Healthcare Consulting, she worked with Cyberonics, and Sesame Communications. It was as a consultant that Ms. Malaspina first came to work with OrthoAccel Technologies.

Last week, OrthoAccel announced a $10 million equity investment with existing shareholder, S3 Ventures and a new private equity investor, HealthPoint Capital. The primary uses of this investment include executing the AcceleDent market launch plan and working capital. In addition, OrthoAccel plans to expand its sales organization in order to maintain its commitment to customer service as the AcceleDent business continues to grow.
