ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ormco Corporation, a leading manufacturer and provider of advanced orthodontic technology and services, today announced that it continues to pursue its patent infringement lawsuit against Ortho Classic related to the design of Ortho Classic’s H4 bracket.

In addition to the pending patent case, Ormco recently reached a settlement related to the trade secrets lawsuit initiated by Ortho Classic. The settlement is in Ormco’s favor and will further protect the Ormco brand and its intellectual property. As part of the settlement terms Ortho Classic must destroy Ormco confidential information in its possession and refrain from using such confidential information, remove references to “Damon” from its marketing materials and not hire former Ormco employees until their non-compete agreements with Ormco expire.

“As the manufacturer of the market’s leading self-ligating bracket system, it is our highest priority to protect our intellectual property and safeguard the Damon® brand,” said Vicente Reynal, president of Ormco Corporation. “Even though Ormco believes that Ortho Classic’s H4 bracket has been perceived by orthodontic practitioners as an inferior product, by pursuing our patent infringement lawsuit against Ortho Classic, we are protecting our high-tech innovations that doctors have come to trust.”
