A portable mini lab that can test for human and animal diseases could save lives and time, say its makers. Developed by the Ministry of Defence’s research arm, the system was originally designed to search for biological warfare agents on the battlefield. But researchers behind the mini lab say it has much wider and more practical uses. These include while-you-wait testing at GP surgeries, food contamination spotting and animal disease detection.
