BALTIMORE, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- ViPS, Inc., a major provider of business intelligence solutions for healthcare and life science companies, today announced a multi-year licensing agreement with HealthPlus of Michigan for MedMeasures(TM) Suite.
HealthPlus of Michigan, the highest-rated health plan in the state for member satisfaction, will be using MedMeasures to streamline the collection, analysis and reporting of the quality care metrics on which its top rating is based. Based in Flint, Michigan, HealthPlus of Michigan covers about 180,000 people in 13 counties in central Michigan. It has been ranked in the "Top 10 Organizations in Member Satisfaction Measures" two years in a row by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
NCQA administers the HEDIS(R) system (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set), under which healthcare organizations nationwide submit specified data measures annually. These measures are then used as the basis for NCQA accreditation, consumer comparisons of health plans, and continuing quality improvement programs among plans.
Dr. John Saalwaechter, chief medical officer (CMO), HealthPlus of Michigan, said the plan chose MedMeasures as part of a strategy to replace its long-standing internal system, which relied on manual data collection processes. "HEDIS reporting and compliance can easily consume half a year and can be very labor intensive," Dr. Saalwaechter said. "By relying on ViPS MedMeasures, we expect to be able to free up resources in our Information Services operation, improve our return on investment, save money and still be able to comply fully with the requirements of this important program."
