COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 7, 2014) – METTLER TOLEDO announces a new Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) 2.
METTLER TOLEDO celebrates 50 years of providing Swiss quality in Thermal Analysis products. We are pleased to introduce the DSC 2 with the new FRS 6 sensor, delivering better durability and reproducibility of results, even in the most demanding application environments. This 6th generation bottom-bonded, surface-stabilized sensor represents more than two decades of technology and provides superior results in industry standard qualification tests.
FlexCal® Technology The indium height to width ratio is improved to 19.5 mW/°C and a now unprecedented 120 mW/°C when applying data optimization – the highest in the industry. The investigation of challenging samples requires variation of heating rates, crucibles or gas type and flow to properly analyze important material changes. The unique built-in FlexCal technology automatically applies the correct calibration data set to match varying measurement parameters eliminating the need to choose a specific calibration between experiments. In addition, a new sealable 25 µL aluminum crucible with smaller base area, improved geometry and lighter weight provides excellent result robustness.
STARe Thermal Analysis Software The DSC 2 is operated by the new version 13.0 STARe Thermal Analysis software, which now includes the single frequency modulated temperature technique Alternating DSC (ADSC). This offers programming and evaluation possibilities to all users and is especially useful for the separation of overlapping effects and accurate heat capacity determination.
Streamlined quality inspection and release measurements are now possible with the new “Quality Control” software option, designed to eliminate tedious statistical analysis. It enables immediate and direct comparison by overlaying previously stored model reference curves over those of the measured material, and automatically determining statistics. This reduces time spent analyzing data, and leads to accurate and precise historical measurement analysis and reporting.
The DSC 2 with the new FRS 6 sensor provides users the ability to achieve reliable results, and its superior performance shines if the application involves the separation of close-lying effects, the identification of weak transitions, or determining heat of transition with high reproducibility.
