MEI Pharma Announces Appointment Of Brian Drazba As Chief Financial Officer

SAN DIEGO, April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MEI Pharma, Inc. (Nasdaq: MEIP), an oncology company focused on the clinical development of novel therapies for cancer, today announced the appointment of Brian Drazba as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Drazba joins the Company with more than 25 years of financial management experience in the healthcare industry, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Heron Therapeutics, Inc., a commercial-stage biotechnology company. He succeeds Thomas Zech, who previously announced his intention to retire after a distinguished career spanning four decades. Mr. Zech has served as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer since June 2010.

Mr. Drazba served as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Heron Therapeutics, Inc. from October 2013 to March 2017. From June 2009 to December 2012, he was Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer for ISTA Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a commercial-stage pharmaceutical company. ISTA Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Bausch + Lomb, Inc. in June 2012. From 1992 to 2009, Mr. Drazba held various positions of increasing responsibility within Insight Health Corp., most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. He began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co., a public accounting firm.
