February 15, 2012 (CAMBRIDGE, MA) – MassBio is pleased to announce that four of our primary suppliers will add even more value for our members as we renew agreements in 2012. Fisher Scientific, Airgas, the Linde Group and Alert Scientific will all enhance their offerings.

Fisher Scientific, a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is the MassBio Primary Supplier for lab supplies. MassBio members see huge savings on laboratory equipment, chemicals, supplies and services. MassBio members also get preferred pricing with Fisher suppliers BD, Corning Life Sciences, and Wheaton Science Products.
In addition to up-front savings with Fisher and all affiliated companies, MassBio members with high volume spend would qualify to receive a rebate. Under the new agreement, ALL MassBio members will receive a 2% rebate, no matter how much they spend.
MassBio members save approximately 25% with Airgas, Inc., which offers reduced prices on cylinder gas, cylinder rentals/leases and gas related equipment. Airgas is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases along with welding, safety and related products. As the largest U.S. producer of dry ice and nitrous oxide, Airgas provides these and other specialized refrigerants, ammonia products.
Under the new agreement, Airgas will also offer a Let’s Get Started Program, which aims to make gas purchases easier and more efficient for new and smaller companies. This program features five different packages to suit the needs of MassBio members and include everything a start-up company needs for each specialty gas, packaged together for a discounted price (for example, gases will come with cylinder brackets, safety eyewear, gloves and coats).
The Linde Group, the primary supplier for bulk gases, and Airgas, the primary supplier for packaged cylinder gases, have both signed 2-year contract extensions with new offerings for MassBio members.
The Linde Group, the MassBio primary supplier for bulk gases, is a major producer of bulk nitrogen, oxygen, argon, helium, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and medical gases in the United States. ,Members already save approximately 25% on their bulk gases. Now, with the new agreement, MassBio members will have access to Linde’s LifeGas Cyroservice Program. This program features cryogenic safety training, cryogenic nitrogen supply, cryogenic freezers, system design and installation, on-site support and management, data monitoring and off-site sample storage.
Finally, Alert Scientific, Inc. the MassBio primary supplier for lab equipment maintenance, will add Clean Room Services to the suite they offer members. Alert Scientific provides factory authorized repair service, preventive maintenance and calibration service, and validation service in the form of temperature mapping and profiling, for many different types of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Alert currently offers MassBio members an average savings of 19-24% through discounts on repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, temperature mapping, IQ/OQ/PQ validation and profiling.
Under the new agreement, MassBio members will save on Clean Room Certification, hourly and travel rates, and NSF Accreditation.
The MassBio Purchasing Consortium was the first in the industry, and is developed through feedback from member companies as part of an ongoing effort to help companies extend their burn rate.
