Stoke-on-Trent (UK), 09 September 2015 – Lucideon, the international materials technology company, in conjunction with the University of Cambridge, Granta Design, NC State University and the University of North Carolina, is hosting a 2-day ‘Science for Industry’ workshop on Biodegradable and Bioresorbable Polymers (BBPs). The workshop will be held on the 17 and 18 November 2015 at the Trinity Centre, Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge, UK.
The aim of the workshop is to provide attendees with a fundamental understanding of the structures, properties and performance of BBPs. This will be delivered through presentations and case studies which will highlight the latest developments in the context of future products. Attendees will also get hands-on skills in the design and development of new products, performance improvement and problem solving.
Dr Xiang Zhang, Head of Medical Materials and Devices at Lucideon, said:
“BBPs have a wide range of functions in both medical and non-medical applications. BBPs form the core of a lot of these materials and therefore can determine how a product performs, that’s why a knowledge and understanding of these materials both in theory and practice is so important.
“We want to bring together as many industry professionals as we can for this workshop and, through understanding and knowledge sharing, help them design and develop the products of the future using the many opportunities offered by BBPs.”
This Science for Industry workshop will be led by Dr Xiang Zhang, who is also a Royal Society Industry Fellow of the University of Cambridge, and will also include presentations from Ruth Cameron, Professor of Materials Science at the University of Cambridge; Sarah Egan, Product Manager, Data Product Solutions and Medical at Granta Design; Ben Rivington, Account Manager at Granta Design; and Professor Zhen Gu from the Joint Biomedical Engineering Department at NC State University and the University of North Carolina.
