The London Biotechnology Network, one of Europe’s largest biotechnology organisations, welcomes delegates and exhibitors to its annual Conference. Now in its ninth year, the Genesis Conference continues to attract high calibre speakers. Held over the 10-11th December, this year’s event will explore how to tackle the R&D hurdles facing the biotech and pharmaceuticals sector. For the first time, Genesis features an Innovations Awards Dinner to highlight the contribution of technology transfer and innovation to UK success.
The Genesis programme opens with presentations from some of the leading names in biotechnology including Lord Drayson, Minister for Science and Innovation and Susan Windham-Bannister, Director of Massachusetts Institute for Life Science. Following the plenary session, the Conference divides into three parallel streams; UK Showcase, Horizons in Healthcare and Botanical Medicines. Sessions will include current trends in medical technology, nurturing innovation through collaborative public funding initiatives, regulatory reform and accessing the NHS market. The showcase stream specifically highlights the UK’s competencies in drug discovery, pre-clinical strategies and next wave technologies. Meanwhile the Bioversity session will give universities and their spin-off companies the opportunity to showcase early stage life science technologies available for licensing to the industry.
Tony Jones, Director of the London Biotechnology Network said: “Genesis stands alone in the UK as a conference that adds another dimension to the usual partnering events. People who attend have their thinking challenged, contribute to debates on best practice and build relationships through the excellent networking opportunities.”
