The manufacturer of scientific instruments and software to advance algal research and production in the energy, agriculture and biotechnology sectors appoints Burgess as President and CEO. Her track record of providing strong leadership, combined with her deep experience as a technology startup and growth executive, make Burgess uniquely qualified to successfully lead Phenometrics into the future.
Lansing, Michigan – September 21, 2016 – Phenometrics, Inc., a firm dedicated to the advancement of research and development in photosynthesis by delivering innovative solutions for researchers worldwide, today announced that Jody Burgess has been selected as the new President and CEO. Burgess assumed the new role in July 2016. Phenometrics’ flagship product, the Phenometrics Photo Bioreactor (PBR101), is an advanced algae culturing system that allows users to quickly and easily determine the best growth factors for their algae strains. Under Burgess, Phenometrics will continue to advance the development of their bioreactors and introduce new innovations, including more powerful software (Algal Command), as well as new accessories making it easier to find the best way to culture and optimize algal strains. The firm will be exhibiting at the Algae Biomass Summit in Phoenix, Arizona on October 23.

Prior to her role with Phenometrics, Burgess served as a Technology Business Consultant for the Michigan Small Business Development Center, focusing on startups. She provided business planning, product and corporate road mapping, and funding guidance. Burgess also helped build one of Michigan’s most successful software companies, TechSmith, by developing and executing on a global marketing strategy that included intense collaboration with product development and product management teams. She holds an MBA in Business from Northwood University – Richard DeVos Graduate School of Management.
