Japan’s Eisai To Lift Capacity In North Carolina; 15 Billion Yen ($138 Million) By The End Of 2005 To Boost Production

Eisai Co Ltd, Japan’s fourth-largest drugmaker, said on Monday it would spend a total of 15 billion yen ($138 million) by the end of 2005 to boost production capacity for its top drugs. Tokyo-based Eisai plans to expand manufacturing facilities at two of its domestic plants and its U.S. plant in North Carolina in order to double its output capacity for its key Alzheimer’s treatment, Aricept, and ulcer drug Pariet, a company spokesman said.
